Water-Supplied Air Heaters and Coolers
Water-supplied heating for production areas, warehouses and comfort spaces, with cooling available on suitable models.

Use existing hot water in your working areas
Illustrative scenario: A facility with a boiler plant is opening a new production or storage area. The aim is to use its hot-water infrastructure and position heaters around racks, workstations and operating hours.
Water-supplied air heaters transfer heat from a water circuit into the room air using a fan. Free-blowing, duct-connected and ceiling arrangements serve different building layouts.
Use an existing heat source
Assess available source capacity together with the demand of the new area.
Match air distribution to the layout
Plan discharge direction, air throw and fan sound around racks and working positions.
Prepare for a source change
If a lower-temperature source is planned, reselect the heater at the actual water temperatures.
When is a water-supplied system suitable?
Consider production, storage and workshop areas that can be served by hot-water pipework. Water temperature and flow, source capacity, heater placement and control zones determine selection. Heat-pump operation does not guarantee the same output from every model.
Is this the same as water-supplied radiant heating?
No. An air heater uses a fan to heat room air; radiant panels transfer heat mainly by radiation. Air movement, sound and occupancy influence the choice.
Can it also cool in summer?
Only with a suitable model, chilled-water supply and condensate drainage. Not every water-supplied heater is a cooler.
MARK TANNER water-supplied air heater comparison
The TANNER range includes free-blowing unit heaters, duct heating coils and ceiling cassettes. MDA+ and CLA provide chilled-water cooling as well as hot-water heating. Fan design and installation layout are the main differences between the families.
| Product family | Technical features | Applications / layout |
|---|---|---|
| TANNER MDA ↗Axial-fan heating | Copper/aluminium heat exchanger; 230 V or 400 V versions. Optional EC motor. | Horizontal or vertical discharge in industrial spaces, garages and warehouses. Outdoor air connection with filter and mixing-box options. |
| TANNER MDA+ ↗Heating and cooling | Standard EC axial fan; integrated condensate tray and optional drain pump. | Suspended unit with horizontal discharge. Heating and cooling in production areas; low-temperature water and heat pump applications. |
| TANNER MD ↗Duct coil without a fan | Copper/aluminium heat exchanger; aluzinc casing. Airflow is provided by the duct system’s fan. | Direct installation in ductwork for heating or reheating incoming air. |
| TANNER MBA ↗Low-profile space heating | Standard EC axial fan with stepless speed control; RAL 9016 coated casing. | Suspended heating in low-ceilinged showrooms, offices, shops and changing rooms. |
| TANNER MDC ↗Duct-connected heating | EC plug fan; copper/aluminium heat exchanger. Filter and mixing-box options. | Horizontal or vertical discharge; connection to ductwork and outdoor air use with suitable accessories. |
| TANNER CLA ↗Ceiling cassette · heating/cooling | EC motor; built-in protected condensate pump. One or two water circuits available. | Suspended ceiling installation for water-supplied heating and cooling in offices, showrooms and shops. |
Thermal output: Output depends on supply and return water temperatures, room temperature and fan speed. Comparisons use the same water and air conditions; humidity and condensate drainage also matter for cooling. Detailed capacity tables are available in the technical documents below.
