Roof Fans and General Ventilation
Give indoor air a planned route out. Match roof extraction with a suitable supply of replacement air.

Production grows, but ventilation stays the same
As occupancy and operating hours increase, an existing workshop may need more air exchange. Opening doors is not a practical answer in every season. In this illustrative application, the aim is controlled general extraction together with a clear plan for where replacement air enters and how it is conditioned.
How can roof extraction help?
A roof fan places the extraction point at roof level. Selection considers airflow, duct and grille resistance, and the availability of replacement air together.
What changes in practice?
A complete airflow path
Plan the route from air inlets through the occupied area to the extraction point. Adding a fan alone does not define the whole ventilation system.
Operation matched to use
Operating schedules and changing demand inform the control approach. Constant full-speed operation is not always necessary.
A roof-based arrangement
Roof placement is assessed alongside maintenance access, noise, structural support and the discharge location.
Is it suitable for your project?
Consider building use, required airflow, pressure losses, air inlets and winter make-up air heating. Local pollutants such as welding fumes may require source capture in addition to general ventilation. A standard roof fan does not automatically meet smoke-extraction, explosive-atmosphere or specialist chemical-process requirements.
MARK MDV BLUE
MARK MDV BLUE is an EC-motor roof-fan family for general extraction. Speed and control options depend on the project; the manufacturer selection confirms the operating point.
Common questions
Does a roof extract fan also supply fresh air?
In this arrangement the fan extracts air. The natural or mechanical route for replacement air must be designed separately.
Is this the same as ECOFAN?
No. ECOFAN recirculates existing indoor air, while roof extraction discharges indoor air outside. They serve different needs.
What do we need for a selection?
Start with workshop dimensions, activities, occupancy, existing air inlets and any available duct layout.
The scenario is illustrative, not a completed project reference. Final selection and scope are confirmed against current manufacturer data.
